Homemade 7up Biscuits is an easy 4-ingredient recipe that makes fluffy, buttery biscuits without the fuss. Ready in under 25 minutes, they are perfect for breakfast, topped with jam, or served alongside a bowl of hamburger macaroni soup or my easy chili.

Holly’s Recipe Highlights: 7up Biscuits
- Flavor: These biscuits are soft and fluffy inside, with crisp golden edges. They are buttery with a mild sweetness from the soda. But don’t worry, these biscuits don’t taste like 7Up.
- Skill Level: Beginner-friendly, no yeast, no kneading necessary.
- Why It Works: Grated cold butter creates steam as it bakes for flaky, tender layers, while the carbonation in the 7Up helps the biscuits rise.
- Serving: Serve a batch for breakfast warm with butter, jam, honey, or homemade white gravy. Or serve it as a side with my favorite cauliflower leek soup.

Ingredients Notes

- Bisquick Baking Mix: Use Original Bisquick or a similar complete biscuit mix. For the best results, spoon it into the measuring cup and level it off without packing it down.
- Lemon-Lime Soda: Choose a regular lemon-lime soda, like 7Up or Sprite, to add sweetness and moisture while the carbonation makes the biscuits light and fluffy. Diet soda can be used, but it won’t be as sweet or golden brown.
- Sour Cream: Full-fat sour cream gives these biscuits rich flavor and a tender texture. If replacing with light sour cream, the biscuits may not be quite as rich.
- Cold Butter: Grate very cold butter so it mixes evenly into the dough. If it is too soft, freeze it for about five minutes before grating.
Variations
- Cheddar Biscuits: Fold a cup of shredded sharp cheddar into the final shaggy dough before shaping.
- Garlic Herb Biscuits: Add dried parsley, chives, garlic powder, or Italian seasoning to the dry ingredients.
