How to Make Cabbage and Noodles

  1. Cook onion and garlic in butter (full recipe below).
  2. Add coleslaw mix and cook until tender.

Cabbage and Noodles

Cabbage and noodles are tossed with buttery egg noodles, sautéed onions, garlic, and coleslaw mix for a simple, savory dish that's quick, comforting, and full of flavor.

Ingredients  

  • 8 ounces egg noodles dry and uncooked
  • ¼ cup salted butter
  • 1 medium onion diced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 16 ounces coleslaw mix
  • ¾ teaspoon salt more or less to taste
  • ¾ teaspoon black pepper more or less to taste

Instructions 

  • Cook noodles according to package directions, drain and set aside.
  • In a large skillet, cook the onion in butter over medium heat until tender, about 4 minutes. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute more.
  • Add the coleslaw mix and cook until tender, about 7-9 minutes.
  • Stir in the noodles and cook for 2-3 minutes or until heated through. Season with salt & pepper.

Notes

  • Diced ham, crisp bacon, sliced kielbasa, or crumbled sausage are great additions to this recipe. 
  • Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for up to four days.
  • Freeze leftover portions in zippered bags for up to four weeks.
  • Reheat leftovers on the stove top or in a covered casserole dish in the oven.
