Cabbage – Using coleslaw mix with a mix of green and red cabbage and shredded carrots adds color and crunch and saves on prep time!

Noodles – Wide egg noodles are the ideal size that holds up well even if served as leftovers. Medium-sized pasta like shells, bow tie, ziti, or penne can also be used instead.

How to Make Cabbage and Noodles

This easy dish comes together in less than 20 minutes and is loaded with flavor!

  1. Cook egg noodles per package directions. Drain and set aside.
  2. Saute onion in butter until tender and add garlic, as directed in the recipe below.
  3. Add coleslaw mix and cook until tender. Mix in the noodles and cook until heated through.
  4. Season with salt and pepper and serve.

Serving Suggestions

Cabbage and Noodles

This easy skillet side dish uses packaged coleslaw for quick prepping!

Ingredients  

  • 8 ounces egg noodles , dry and uncooked
  • ¼ cup salted butter
  • 1 medium onion , diced
  • 3 cloves garlic , minced
  • 16 ounces coleslaw mix
  • ¾ teaspoon salt , more or less to taste
  • ¾ teaspoon pepper , more or less to taste

Instructions 

  • Cook noodles according to package directions, drain and set aside.
  • In a large skillet, cook the onion in butter over medium heat until tender, about 4 minutes. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute more.
  • Add the coleslaw mix and cook until tender, about 7-9 minutes.
  • Stir in the noodles and cook for 2-3 minutes or until heated through. Season with salt & pepper.

Notes

  • Diced ham, crisp bacon, sliced kielbasa, or crumbled sausage are great additions to this recipe. 
  • Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for up to four days.
