BBQ Grilled Burgers come out juicy and full of beefy flavor.
Make savory, succulent burgers on the grill with just a few ingredients and some insider tips.
BBQ Grilled Burgers are a must-have summer classic with all the fixings.
Best Burgers on the Grill
- This classic hamburger recipe stands the test of time.
- Simply seasoned, homemade patties are made without fillers or extras.
- Prep extra patties for future picnics, parties, and BBQs.
Ingredients and Variations
Beef – The best burgers start with the right ratio of meat to fat. An 80/20 blend has enough fat to keep the burgers juicy without much grease. For extra zesty burgers, add some Italian sausage or chorizo.
Seasonings – A little Worcestershire sauce, barbecue sauce, and garlic salt create the perfect blend of savory flavor.
Variations – Zest up burgers with homemade ground beef seasoning. Switch out the Worcestershire for honey garlic sauce and make teriyaki burgers. Add a slice of cheddar, Swiss, Monterey Jack, or blue cheese crumbles for bistro-worthy burgers.
How to Make BBQ Grilled Burgers
- Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
- Mix beef, Worcestershire sauce, and seasonings in a large bowl.
- Form into patties and brush with BBQ sauce. Grill (as per the recipe below).
- Serve with buns and toppings as desired.
Tips For Burger Bliss
- Always heat the grill, or make sure the charcoal or pellets are fully heated, before placing the patties on. This helps achieve a crispy exterior and seal in all that juicy flavor.
- Avoid overmixing the ground beef so it doesn’t become tough.
- Indent the center of each patty with the back of the spoon to keep them from bulging in the center.
- A meat thermometer is your best tool to ensure patties are cooked to the correct temperature. Burgers should reach 160°F before removing from the grill (they will continue to cook a little more as they rest).
- Place parchment paper between each patty to refrigerate or freeze.
Serving and Storage Solutions
Serve with toasted burger buns and assorted toppings like lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles, bacon, or mushrooms. Mayo, mustard, and relish are standard but try some homemade honey mustard. Set out some Bibb or romaine lettuce so guests can make low-carb burgers. Don’t forget classic sides like macaroni salad or potato salad.
Keep leftover BBQ grilled burgers in a covered container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Reheat them in the microwave or chop them up and add to cheesy pasta or baked potatoes. Hamburgers can be frozen (raw or cooked and cooled) for up to a month in the freezer.
