Best Chocolate Pudding Parfait

  • These are the perfect parfait cups to make for serving at a buffet table. They have such a nice presentation.
  • There is no need to heat up the kitchen, making these the best no-bake dessert for those hot summer days.
  • The crushed oreo cookies make a layer that soaks up all the sweet goodness of the creamy pudding mixture.
  • It is so easy to vary the flavor of this dessert. Use different flavors of Oreo cookies, from mint to vanilla, and everything in between.

Ingredients & Variations

OREOS: The oreo cookies are used between the layers and as the crushed topping. The most popular oreo cookie is what this recipe calls for (those black and white classics), but don’t hesitate to experiment and try the toffee crunch, chocolate hazelnut, mint-flavored, chocolate creme, or sweet birthday cake just to name a few.

Other types of cookies could also be used, like chocolate chip, peanut butter, or maple fudge.

PUDDING MIXTURE: A simple box of pudding mix, some coffee, and cream are combined for a decadent and smooth layer. This recipe calls for chocolate pudding, but this would also work, with vanilla, even butterscotch.

COFFEE: Use decaffeinated or caffeinated coffee or use a coffee substitute. This can also be replaced with some dry hot chocolate for an over-the-top chocolatey flavor.

WHIPPED TOPPING: Cool whip or premade whip cream is an easy option for a whipped topping, this can be found in the freezer section of the supermarket.

How to Make an Oreo Parfait

This no-bake dessert recipe is so simple and so decadent.

  1. Mix pudding, cream, and coffee.
  2. Mix some of the pudding with the whipped topping.
  3. Crush cookies. Add to each individual cup (per the recipe below)
  4. Layer the pudding, and then the cookies.

To serve, sprinkle with crushed cookies and some whipped topping and dig in!

Tips for Success

  • These can be made ahead of time, assembled, and refrigerated. This will make the cookies even softer, as they absorb most of the pudding mixture.
  • To keep the cookies crisp, crush the cookies, make the pudding and then assemble just before serving.
  • These yummy parfaits also freeze very well, and taste almost like cookie ice cream!

For Serving, to impress guests serve these in wine goblets or larger liqueur glasses. Or for outdoor occasions or birthday parties, use plastic clear cups. And maybe add a little maraschino cherry on top for a dash of red and extra sweetness!
