Air Fryer BBQ Chicken

This recipe for BBQ chicken in the air fryer produces juicy, tender, and sweet chicken.

  • 4 chicken breasts or 1 lb
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt and pepper each


  • Preheat air fryer to 370°F.
  • Combine paprika, salt, pepper, and garlic powder together and rub onto the chicken breasts.
  • Place in the air fryer basket and cook for 15- 16 minutes.
  • Remove from the air fryer and brush with BBQ sauce.
  • Return to the air fryer and cook for an additional 3 minutes or until chicken reaches 165°F internally.


  • Place chicken in the air fryer basket in such a way that the hot air can circulate around the pieces.
  • Use a meat thermometer to check that the chicken has reached an internal temperature of 165°F in the thickest part.
  • The chicken temperature of the chicken will continue to rise as it rests, called carry over cooking. Rest chicken for 5 minutes so that the juices become sealed into the meat.
