Holly’s Recipe Highlights: Strawberry Fluff
- Flavor: Sweet, creamy, and lightly tangy, this strawberry fluff is bursting with fresh berry flavor and soft marshmallow goodness in every bite.
- Skill Level: No baking needed, just mix and chill!
- Why Make It: You’ll love this because there’s no cooking, just one bowl, and only a few ingredients, making it an easy make-ahead dessert for parties and gatherings.
- Serving Suggestions: Spoon this dessert salad into a trifle bowl or serve it in individual dessert cups for an easy, crowd-pleasing presentation.
Ingredient Notes

- Jell-O: Strawberry Jell-O mix brings that classic strawberry flavor and helps the mixture set slightly as it chills. Swap the Jell-O for your favorite flavor!
- Yogurt: Plain yogurt gives the fluff a light tang and balances the sweetness. Choose vanilla yogurt for a sweeter finish or replace it with Greek yogurt for a thicker texture.
- Marshmallows: Mini marshmallows add soft, chewy bites and help create that classic fluff texture.
- Whipped Topping: Whipped topping keeps the mixture extra light and stable. Fully thaw before folding in so it mixes in smoothly.
- Strawberries: Fresh strawberries give the best flavor and texture. Chop them small and pat dry so they don’t water down the fluff.
- Variations: For a fruitier, more classic fluff salad, try adding in drained crushed pineapple, or swap some of the strawberries for raspberries or diced bananas. For extra crunch, stir in chopped pecans or walnuts just before serving.

How To Make Strawberry Fluff
- Whisk the strawberry Jell-O and yogurt together. Then fold in the whipped topping.
- Stir in the marshmallows and chopped strawberries last so they stay intact.
- Cover and chill (full recipe below).

Holly’s Pro Tips
- Pat Strawberries Dry: Remove the extra moisture by patting the strawberries dry to keep the fluff creamy and not watery.
- Smooth Base: Mix the Jell-O and yogurt first until fully smooth for even flavor and color.
- Fold Gently: Once the whipped topping goes in, fold the fluff instead of stirring so the texture stays light and airy.
- Make Ahead: For the best texture and flavor, make ahead and let chill for several hours before serving.
- For Potlucks: Keep it cold until ready to serve since it softens as it sits out.
Storing Leftovers
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
It can also be frozen for up to 1 month, then thawed in the refrigerator. Stir gently before serving if any liquid separates. Best served cold.

Can sugar free jello be used?
Sandi, I have not tried it with sugar free Jello. However, other readers have and the dish turned out fine.
What size box of jello please
Hello Donna. The standard sized box of Jello will do just fine (3 oz, or 85 grams).
Can you add a small box of instant vanilla pudding along with the other ingredients?
Hi Rhonda, we haven’t tried adding pudding to this recipe but would love to hear how it turns out for you!
Hello, I see several comments mentioning the use of vanilla pudding but do not see that in the recipe anywhere? Has the recipe been changed to use just plain yogurt? If so how was it made with the pudding? And is the plain yogurt like the plain Greek yogurt? I don’t often buy yogurt so I want to make sure I get the right thing. Thank you!
Hi Emily! The recipe has been updated for ease and improved flavor and consistency in January 2022. You can use regular plain yogurt or use Greek-style yogurt for a thicker salad which is the perfect texture for a no-bake tart or pie filling. Enjoy!
I bought all the ingredients for the video and the recipe listed is totally different! Very disappointed.
Hi Amy, her is the old recipe for you!
Ingredients:
1 small box strawberry jello
1 cup boiling water
1 cup crushed ice
1 box Instant Vanilla Pudding 4 servings size
20 oz crushed pineapple
4 cups mini marshmallows
8 oz whipped topping thawed
16 oz strawberries chopped
Instructions:
Place jello in a medium bowl. Add boiling water and stir until dissolved.
Add ice and stir until melted. Place into refrigerator for 10 minutes or until it begins to set.
Place pineapple in a separate large bowl (do not drain). Add vanilla pudding mix well. Add all remaining ingredients and stir.
Fold jello into the whipped topping mixture until smooth.
Cover and refrigerate for at least one hour before serving.
This recipe is super easy and very tasty! Will be trying it with orange jello and mandarin oranges too! ( I even tried it with sugar free jello packet and it came out superb!)
Ooo! An orange version sounds delicious, Karen. You will have to let us know what you think.
How many servings is this recipe?
It makes 8 servings Laurie.
Can you use frozen strawberries instead of fresh one’s. I’m definitely gonna try it with them as well as using cheesecake pudding. It’s gonna be called strawberry cheesecake delight or fluff.
While I have only made the recipe as written, I think that would work. If there is some liquid, you may want to add less other liquid or add in more marshmallows to get the consistency. Enjoy Joey!
With the vanilla pudding do you mix it as directed on the box with milk or just the box of pudding
Sorry I missed your question Gloria. You add the pudding mix in dry.
HELP!! My jello didn’t set. Can I add more vanilla pudding to thicken it up. It’s a little too runny even tho I DID put in refrig all night. If anyone has a solution I would greatly appreciate some feedback but quick!
I haven’t had that problem, but think that your idea would help somewhat, as would adding more marshmallows.
The recipe doesn’t require any water with the jello…You mix the jello dry packet with the container of yogurt…Then add the other ingredients, marshmallows, strawberries, cool whip…there should be no “setting” of the jello.
Looks delicious. For those of us without access to US market items, what is whipped topping? Would whipped cream work?
Yes it would work with whipped cream. Let us know if you try it Jane!
Could this be frozen?
I have never tried freezing this recipe. Let us know if you try it Ann!
I made this and it turned out well it was the perfect desert thank you for this recipe
You are welcome! I’m glad it turned out so well for you Theresa!
I’ve seem it with canned blueberries or cherries.
Looks amazing on vaction in Panama City and the hubby bday is on the 13th I’m so going to make this for his B-Day he don’t like strawberries but me and the kiddo love them so it’s a win win on his B-Day lol thanks for sharing ….
God Bless…
🙂 Enjoy Brenda!
Yes. Add sliced banana instead. Add 1/2 c. Cranberry juice to replace pineapple juice. Yes, can also use cut up angel food cake to replace marshmallows.
Thank you for the tips Cathy!
How long does the Jello have to set in the refrigerator, before you mix it with the other stuff
Instruction number 2 says to put it in the fridge for 10 minutes or until it begins to set. Hope that helps!
The Jello packet and the yogurt adhere right away…there is no need to wait to “set” it. There’s no liquid involved.
In all the fluffs I have ever made, I add the jello dry. Could I do that with this recipe?
I have only made the recipe as written Jenny
Do you have to use the crushed ice?
Crushed ice helps the jello set. Faye, if you have only ice cubes, I’d suggest that you crush them a little before adding it to make sure it dissolves well. You could put them in a ziploc bag and pound them with a mallet or pan to crush them. Hope that helps!
Do you think a jar of marshmallow fluff could be used instead of the mini marshmallows?
I have only tried it as written, so I can’t say for sure. Let us know how it works out if you try it!
All I have is a big box of Jell-O and cook and serve pudding…do you think that’s ok?
I have only tried it as written, so I can’t say for sure. Let us know how it works out if you try it!
I do not think you could use cooked pudding. I would wait to try it until you have the instant pudding. the larger jell-o will work, but then use the larger size pudding also. I would also adjust the other ingredients so you will just end up with a larger end product.
Do u have to use marshmallows
The marshmallows soak up some of the liquid causing the dish to thicken slightly and adding a bit of sweetness, so it would not be quite the same.
I make a variation of this and I add chopped pecans or walnuts for a nice crunch.
Sounds delicious!
I made the strawberry fluff for dessert tonight, and it’s wonderful!!! Hubby, kids and grandkids couldn’t get enough, and hubby already informed me that I need to keep the necessary ingredients on hand at all times! Thank you for a quick, easy and delicious recipe! <3
That’s so great to hear!
Love your recipes
Thank you Mary 🙂
Does pudding mix need to be made with milk ?….or just add straight from box !
Add it straight from the box Bob. Enjoy!
Love this site
Thank you Judy!
Must try this, sounds delightful!
It really is Tonda!
I can’t eat pineapples; what would be a good substitution if any, or can it go without them completely?
I have only tried it as written, but think you could replace it with another crushed fruit. I would not recommend leaving it out completely. Let us know how it turns out!
That strawberry fluff looks so deliciuos
You’ll enjoy it!
New family favorite
My family loves it too Shannon!
Wonderful recipes!
Thank you Vicky!
Can’t wait to make it
Let us know what you think!
looks so delightful I want to make it
Please do Ann! You’ll love it.
Will this recipe ‘work’ without the marshmallows in it ?
The marshmallows soak up some of the liquid causing the dish to thicken slightly and adding a bit of sweetness, so it would not be quite the same.
Mine was not thick enough. What can I add to make it thicker.
You can add more marshmallows to help thicken it Melissa. Enjoy!
They all sound so good. Strawberry Fluff is so easy to make.
Easy and delicious!
Can you leave out the pineapple? My daughter is allergic to citrus fruits and misses out on all the “good stuff”. Looks yummy!
I have only tried it as written, but if you leave out the pineapple, I’d suggest you’d want to replace it with another crushed fruit. Let us know how it works out Marie!
