Ham – Look for a half-ham or one large enough to fill the Crockpot without hitting the sides. Look for one that is pre-cooked and score the outside so the glaze will seep into the cuts.
Glaze – Use brown sugar, and add to it any good quality Dijon mustard and real maple syrup for the best flavor. If maple syrup is not available, honey, corn syrup, pancake syrup, or even barbecue sauce can be substituted. In a pinch – or if you prefer – use your favorite ham glaze from a jar.
Variations – Pineapple juice, or even ginger ale mixed with apricot or peach jam are other options to give salty slow cooker ham a sweet edge. Cinnamon, allspice, or a few cloves can be added to the pot for extra flavor dimensions
How to Cook Crockpot Brown Sugar Ham
Brown sugar-glazed ham always looks fancy at the center of a table, but is actually a breeze to cook!
- Place a pre-cooked ham in a crockpot and slice cross hatches through the top layer of fat.
- Pour over the glaze mixture.
- Cover and cook (per recipe below) until internal temperature reaches 140°.
- Allow to rest in the pot before serving.
Tips for Success
- When brown sugar baked ham is done, turn off the slow cooker and allow the meat to rest in the juices for 20 – 30 minutes.
- Strain the juices to spoon over the meat.

CrockPot Brown Sugar Ham

Ingredients
- 1 fully cooked boneless ham (about 2 pounds)
- ⅓ cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup dijon mustard or grainy mustard
- ¼ cup maple syrup
Instructions
- Place ham in the crock pot and score the top of the ham with a knife making a grid pattern about 1 inch apart from each other.
- Whisk together remaining ingredients until completley mixed and pour over ham.
- Cover and cook on low for 3-4 hours or until ham reaches an internal temperature of 140˚F.
- Slice and ham and serve, drizzling leftover juices on top.
Notes
- Allow ham to rest for 5 minutes before slicing to better retain the juices.
- Keep lid on during the first 2 hours in order to properly steam the ham.
