Breakfast pigs in a blanket are as much fun to make as they are to eat! Canned cinnamon rolls are wrapped around sausage links and drizzled with warmed maple icing for a quick and easy weekday morning breakfast or tasty weekend brunch.
Holly’s Highlights All Rolled Up!
- Flavor: Sweet and savory come together with warm cinnamon rolls, maple icing, and juicy breakfast sausage for a cozy morning treat.
- Difficulty: Pigs in a blanket are so simple, even the littlest cooks can help out!
- Prep note: Bake a batch or two up to a day ahead and reheat them in the microwave or air fryer before topping with maple icing.
- Serving suggestions: Fruit kabobs are another handheld (and healthy!) side to serve with breakfast pigs in a blanket.
3 Ingredient Breakfast Bites
- Cinnamon Rolls: No need to buy the name brand; use what’s available (or on sale!) at the grocery store. Reserve the icing for Step 4.
- Sausages: Fully cooked sausage links don’t need reheating before baking, which makes this recipe quick and easy. You can swap in a sausage substitute if you’d like.
- Snuggly Blanket Swaps: Use plain biscuits instead of cinnamon rolls for savory pigs in a blanket, or try leftover pancakes or French toast and skip the baking!
Tips For The Best Breakfast Bites
- To keep the seams of the cinnamon rolls together, wet your fingers before pressing the seams together in Step 2.
- Parchment paper keeps the pigs from sticking to the baking sheet as they cook, and makes clean up a cinch!
- Once assembled, brush the cinnamon roll pigs in a blanket with a little heavy cream. This keeps the rolls extra moist and tender and helps the icing absorb.
Lasting Leftovers
- Keep leftover breakfast pigs in a blanket in a single layer in a covered container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Reheat in the microwave or in a preheated air fryer until heated through.
- Freeze them in a single layer before transferring them to zippered bags for up to 2 months. Thaw in the refrigerator before reheating.
