The inspiration for this recipe came from the popular Chinese restaurant, P.F. Chang’s. Not only are these lettuce wraps wonderful, they always taste so much better homemade – and at half the cost!
Easy under 30-minute meal
I love lettuce wraps because they are the easiest meal you can serve your family. You can have the whole meal ready to be enjoyed in less than 30-minutes.
How to make Chicken Lettuce Wraps:
- Prepare the sauce and set aside.
- Cook the ground chicken. Add sauce and cook.
- While the chicken is cooking, prepare desired vegetables and break apart lettuce.
How can I make ground chicken?
If you cannot find ground chicken or don’t want to spend the extra money on ground chicken, grind the chicken yourself. If you have a Kitchen Aid mixer, just add the grinder attachment to the mixer and grind yourself. So easy!
What kind of chicken should I use?
If grinding the chicken yourself, chicken thighs work best, just be sure to trim off any excess fat! You can also use chicken breast if that’s all you have, however, chicken thighs are more tender and juicier when ground.
Can I use ground turkey?
Yes! Ground turkey is a great substitute if you cannot find ground chicken!
What kind of lettuce should I use?
Butter lettuce or mini romaine are both great choices to use. If you don’t have either on hand, iceberg lettuce will work just fine.
I like julienning different vegetables and set it up as a buffet, everyone adds their favorite veggies to top off their lettuce wraps. The vegetables can either be julienned or chopped fine. I like to top mine with cucumbers and radishes. You can also add tomatoes if desired.
Can I reheat the chicken mixture?
This is a wonderful recipe to reheat. Once cooked and cooled, it will store refrigerated up to 3 days! To reheat, just add a splash of chicken broth to your skillet with the chicken mixture and you’re done!
My favorite part of this recipe is the super easy sauce! It’s not the traditional sauce you might expect from lettuce wraps and the ingredients are ones you already have on hand, so you don’t have to go out and purchase just for one recipe.

- 1 pound ground chicken
- 1 teaspoon oil
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger grated
- 1 garlic minced
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 4 teaspoon creamy peanut butter
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon water
- 2 green onions
- butter lettuce
- radishes optional when serving
- cucumbers optional when serving
- tomatoes optional when serving
- In a small bowl, combine peanut butter, soy sauce, and water; set aside.
- In a skillet over medium heat, add oil. Once hot, add ground chicken and cook until browned, breaking up chicken as it’s cooked.
Add butter, ginger and garlic and cook for another minute, stirring as needed.
- Pour the sauce over the chicken mixture. Add green onions. Cook another minute.
- To serve, add some chicken mixture into a lettuce leaf. Top with desired added vegetables.
