This crockpot honey garlic chicken has all the flavors of take-out without leaving the house.
Honey garlic chicken uses chicken thighs and basic ingredients to make a sweet, spicy, and sticky sauce that infuses the meat with delicious flavor.
Make Crockpot Honey Garlic Chicken On Repeat Because…
- This recipe combines the perfect balance of sweet and savory flavors.
- Honey, soy sauce, and ketchup are blended for a sauce that is sweet, salty, and tangy.
- The sauce will thicken and coat the chicken with a glossy hard-to-resist glaze.
- Serve it with warm steaming rice for a meal everyone will rave over.
Ingredients
Chicken Thighs: Boneless skinless thighs, breasts, chicken cutlets, or strips can all be used in this recipe. Bone-in, skin-on thighs will also work but will thin out the sauce due to the fat in the skin (simply add more cornstarch slurry until thickened to your liking). If using breasts, make sure they are the same size so they cook evenly.
Sauce: This sauce is made from basic pantry and fridge ingredients. You can switch the ketchup for sriracha if you want a spicy sauce and coconut aminos instead of soy sauce for less sodium if you like. A tablespoon of hoisin sauce added in Step 1 will add depth of flavor and thicken the sauce as well.
Variations: Feel free to add broccoli florets, water chestnuts, baby corn, bell peppers, or pineapple chunks to the recipe in Step 2 and remove them along with the chicken in Step 4 before preparing the sauce. Garnish honey garlic crockpot chicken with sliced green onions or sesame seeds for a more authentic-looking dish.
