This easy caramel sauce is buttery, rich, and smooth with deep brown sugar flavor. Just three ingredients and a few minutes on the stovetop make a delicious homemade dessert topping.
Place all the ingredients in a thick bottomed saucepan.
Place saucepan over medium heat, and bring to a soft boil, melting the butter, and allowing the sugar to dissolve.
Let the mixture boil for 2 to 3 minutes until sugar is completely dissolved and sauce is no longer grainy. Continue cooking until desired thickness is achieved
Pour out of the saucepan into a storage container or jar, do not scrape the sides.
Serve over ice cream!
Notes
To use later, reheat by placing the jar in hot water or by microwaving in small bursts until runny again.Keep leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
