Instructions
Season beef with salt & black pepper. Place all ingredients except for bread in the slow cooker.
Cook on low for 8-10 hours or high for 5-6 hours, or until meat is very tender.
When ready to serve, shred meat, place back into liquid in slow cooker until ready to plate.
Slice bread lengthwise and lightly toast under the broiler.
Place generous portions of shredded meat inside the bread.
Ladle about ½ cup of the juices into a small bowl. Serve along side the bread and meat for dipping.

Also delicious served with fries and a steamed fresh green vegetable such as broccoli.
Rub toasted sections of bread with a clove of garlic for extra flavor!
Thicken au jus if desired by making a slurry (equal amounts corn starch and cold water, mixed in a jar) Add just enough slurry to the broth until desired thickness is achieved.
