Fried Cabbage With Bacon

Change up your vegetable side dish routine with this great tasting Fried Cabbage recipe!

Ingredients

  • 6 slices bacon chopped
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 large onion diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 6-8 cups cabbage chopped
  • ¾ cup carrots diced
  • 2-3 tablespoons water
  • ½ teaspoon sugar
  • salt & pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Cook bacon over medium-high heat until crisp. Remove bacon, reserve drippings, and set aside.
  • Add butter to the drippings and cook onion until tender, about 5 minutes.
  • Add garlic, cabbage, carrot, salt, and pepper.  Cook about 5 minutes.  Add sugar and water.  Let cook until cabbage is softened, about 15 minutes. 
  • Sprinkle with bacon before serving.
