Super addicting and oh so buttery, homemade Butter Mints are a sweet sensation that make the perfect candy to have for all occasions.

  • 1 cube butter cold cut into 1 inch pieces
  • 4 cups powdered sugar sifted and divided + extra for rolling
  • 2 Tbsp whole milk
  • ½ tsp pure peppermint extract
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • Food coloring optional

  • Line a baking sheet with a piece of parchment paper and set aside.
  • In a large bowl or in the bowl of your stand mixer sift 2 cups of powdered sugar and add in the butter. Mix on medium until combined, then add in the remaining two cups of sifted powdered sugar and mix until thoroughly combined.
  • Add in milk, vanilla, and peppermint extracts and mix until creamy.
  • Sprinkle a cutting board with additional powdered sugar (to prevent stickiness) and turn dough out. Cut into 4 equal pieces and if using food coloring add just a small drop to each. Turn dough out again until fully incorporated. (If using more than one color, repeat until all colors are incorporated into dough)
  • Using one piece at a time roll into 1/2 inch to an inch size log and cut with a knife or dough scraper into small pieces and place on prepared baking sheet. Repeat with all four pieces and allow to sit over night uncovered to dry.
