Crab Dip is a party appetizer like no other. Tender crab meat is folded into a creamy whipped combination of mayonnaise, cream cheese, and lemon. We top this with some fresh chives for color and serve it alongside our favorite dippers!

Crab dip, crab rangoon dip, cold crab dip – call it what you want, you’ll fall in love with the flavors of this easy dip! The creaminess of the dip paired with tender chunks of crab and a perfect bit of lemon all come together to give you an appetizer that always seems to be the first thing scooped up at any party!

Thank you to Princess Cruises for hosting our cruise, serving us loads of amazing seafood and of course sponsoring and inspiring this delicious Crab Dip recipe!

I’ve always liked crab, it’s sweet and tender and the fact that you dip it in butter is just icing on the cake!  As much as I’ve always liked fresh crab I recently went on an Alaskan cruise with Princess Cruises and had the most succulent life-changing crab ever! In fact, ALL of the food we enjoyed on the cruise with absolutely amazing!   My husband and I got a much needed break from work and busy everyday life, and got to go on quite a few interesting excursions while really getting to relax for a few days.

Mornings often started out with fresh coffee delivered to our cabin or a visit the the coffee bar!  I loved grabbing cappuccinos from the coffee bar, sipping on a hot cup while looking out over the water. We spent one day in an area called the sanctuary enjoying cups of Baileys spiked hot cocoa, snacks and desserts while cruising through Glacier bay.

During the day, we most often visited the morning and lunch buffets filled with endless delicious foods (including Reindeer Chili).  Regardless of what you were in the mood for, you’d could satisfy your cravings!  Freshly made soups, lots of fresh vegetables, meats and sides … and desserts for miles!

We ate some of the most amazing seafood ever! Crab, shrimp, salmon… every time we sat down to eat, there were so many amazing options, it was hard to choose.

If you’ve never been on a cruise before, when you stop at a port or city, you can choose from excursions at each stop!  It was so hard for us to choose but in the end we quite literally had the experiences of a lifetime!

In Icy Straight, we went on a Whale Watching and Seafood Feast tour and as you can see below, what a feast it was.  Not only did we see tons and tons of whales, that was truly the best crab I’ve ever had in my life.  We saw all kinds of wild life from eagles and whales to sea otters! Once we got off the whale watching tour, we had a crab/shrimp boil (which inspired these yummy Shrimp Boil Foil Packets).

We did the Salmon Sport Fishing Adventure in Juneau and while we didn’t catch any salmon (see some pics of us salmon fishing here), the views were breathtaking and we saw tons of wildlife and whales! I think my favorite of all was the Glacier Point Wilderness Safari, a super cool experience with kayaking, glaciers and tons of fun! It was so amazing!

Now when I think back to our trip (and honestly can’t wait for my next Alaskan Cruise)… I think of all of the beauty Alaska has to offer, all of the fun excursions we got to experience and of course all of the delicious food we got to enjoy! I’ve created so many recipes inspired by this trip and of course this crab dip is just one of many!

Crab dip mixture in a bowl

While I love a good hot crab dip (or Crab & Cheese Filled Crescent Rolls) I do love the simplicity of this cold crab dip.  Simply mix and enjoy!

Crab Dip can be made in advance and stored in the fridge, making it the perfect bring along dish to any party! The Alaska Cruise really inspired me to cook more seafood (which makes my husband very happy).

How To Make Crab Dip

This crab dip is seriously easy. Start by mixing your mayonnaise and cream cheese. My secret to making dips extra light and fluffy is using a hand mixer to do this. It whips air into them, keeping your dip from becoming dense.

Next, we add all of the flavor. I use canned crab in this recipe, but if you have fresh crab it works just as well. Add your green onion, Worcestershire, & seasonings and fold to combine (be sure not to  over mix it so the crab stays in tact)! Serve it with your favorite dippers like veggies, crackers, tortilla chips, or a spoon (I won’t tell)!

Crab dip on a cracker

This crab dip is served cold, but you can bake it if you want a hot crab rangoon dip. If you want to transform it into a hot dip top your dip with mozzarella cheese, and bake it for 20 minutes at 350 degrees F or until hot and bubbly and the cheese is melted. Serve immediately!

And if you’ve never been on an Alaskan cruise before, it’s definitely a bucket list trip.  One of the most amazing experiences I’ve ever had!
